Welcome to St Andrew's School
Dear Parents,
St Andrews is a voluntary aided primary school for pupils between the ages of four and eleven. It is a mixed-ability school, affiliated to
the Diocese of Chelmsford and maintained by Essex County Council. We have
about 240 children on roll, divided into 8 classes. These classes are grouped into
three Key Stages; Reception (ages 4 – 5) known as the Foundation Stage, Years
1 & 2 (ages 6 & 7) known as Key Stage One and Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 (ages 8, 9, 10 & 11) known as Key Stage Two.

We have three main aims at St Andrews: We aim high, we take care of each other and we enjoy our learning. These aims were agreed by myself and all of the pupils about two years ago, and are regularly spoken about around school. The care and welfare of all of our children is our top priority, but the pursuit of high academic standards and the provision of new, enriching opportunities to raise self-esteem and confidence are also fundamental to our core work. St Andrews has strong links to the Christian Church, which underpins the ethos and values of the school and provides a basis for our teaching. We also pride ourselves upon being a community school that accepts pupils from a range of faiths and backgrounds. Children who attend St Andrews School experience a spiritually rich and caring environment.

We consider that the years that a child may spend with us are among the most crucial for both educational and personal development. For this reason, it is vital that the school and its parents and governors work in partnership for the benefit of each child. We therefore would hope that all parents, who choose St Andrews for their child, will participate fully in the life of our school, demonstrating interest and offering support throughout. |

Our school prospectus provides brief information about our school – its aims, curriculum and activities. The staff and governors hope that you will find it useful. If you require any further information please contact the school and we will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
